London Metropolitan Archives

ACC/1297 at London Metropolitan Archives comprises of material owned by TfL Corporate Archives but in the care of LMA. These papers cover predecessor and related companies such as the Aylesbury and Buckingham Railway, the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway, the Central London Railway, the Edgware and Hampstead Railway, the Great Northern and City Railway, the Hammersmith and City Railway, the Kingston and London Railway, the London Electric Railway, the London General Omnibus Company, the London Passenger Transport Board, the Metropolitan and Metropolitan District Joint Railways, the North Metropolitan Tramways, the South Metropolitan Electric Tramways, the Underground Electric Railways, the Whitechapel and Bow Railway, the East Ham Omnibus Company, the Fleet Omnibus Company, the Invicta Traction Company, and the Lea Valley Omnibus Company. London Transport Museum

The collections at London Transport Museum comprise more than 450,000 objects which cover all aspects of public transport in London from 1800 to the present day. Many of the collections can now be viewed online. The photographic collection shows London's public transport history from the 1860s to the present day. The core of the collection is made up of the old London Transport photographic archive: more than 150,000 black and white photographs. There is also a smaller amount of colour material, as well as historic albums and prints from all periods. Over 22,000 of the very best images are now available to view online.



The National Archives

The National Archives contains numerous records relating to transport in London, especially from times when transport came under the central control of the British Transport Commission.



Historical Model Railway Society (HMRS)

The Society is one of the definitive sources of information on Britain's long and varied railway history, from the very beginning to the present day. It gathers, stores, and widely distributes historical railway information. Among its drawing collection are many original drawings from Metro-Cammell relating to London Underground Stock. Some descriptions from the HMRS catalogue are incorporated into the TfL Corporate Archives’ catalogue. Enquiries about these records must be made directly to HMRS.
